this book is a moving account of a elderly mans life living in Portsmouth. Throughout the book even though the photographs aren't labeled, the viewer learns about this mans life through what we see. For example we learn that his wife has died through photographs of a scrapbook containing pictures of her. We also learn that he loves bright colours, because all of his wallpaper is of a bright orange 70s print. the pictures aren't really staged,, in fact it is as if the photographer merely wandered around this mans house. What is more moving about this book is the description of how the photographer met this man and became his friend. one description of him i found most interesting is "he was not a thinker, but he wondered". In my opinion this book is a valuable account of this mans life and should be treasured in his memory.
